BOOK BIO - Delaying the Game

Delaying the Game
May 2005 - James Lorimer and Co.
Childrens Fiction

Bio: Kaleigh is playing on an all-girls hockey team for the first time. She misses Josh and Sam, her former teammates. She is often frustrated by how the other girls get distracted from their game—that is until Kaleigh catches the eye of a cute older boy.

“There is more to the story than Kaleigh’s difficulty adjusting to the less physical brand of hockey. She is dealing with coming of age issues: infatuation, make-up, new friendships, team dynamics and a grandmother with Alzheimer’s disease…The plot is straightforward but compelling, the hockey action is exciting, and the off-ice scenes plausible. The current Olympic hockey fever, as well as testimonials from Cassie Campbell and Wayne Gretzky on the cover, will help sail the book off the shelves.”
CM: Canadian Review of Materials.

“Growing up playing hockey was an awesome experience. I only wish I’d had a well written book like this to read about other girls playing hockey.”
Cassie Campbell
Olympic gold medallist

“Lorna’s books are a great read for kids and their parents. They really help teach the importance of having good values both in hockey and in life.”
Wayne Gretzky
