Marketing Books

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Okay, so I will admit the social network element of marketing books is a bit foreign to me but…I’m trying. I’ve started creating a Facebook Page for my new Podium Sports Academy Series but haven’t got it quite completed. I am on Facebook and now have over 2000 friends. I don’t know who they are but I have friends. The publishing houses say this is important. And I blog. Well sort of. Sporatically. Haha. I’m not on Twitter yet but my daughter says she’ll set me up. What I will say or if anyone will read my “tweets” I have no idea. Then there’s all these people who want me to Linkin and Branchout. To date, I’ve ignored those because I still have to figure out Facebook. My kids have told me not to creep. Really? Me, a creeper? Haha.
Okay, so I’m going to do a little begging here. If you’re on my site right now, which you are if you’re reading this, and you’ve liked a book I’ve written go to the amazon button or Indigo or Barnes and Nobles or ALL OF THEM, (if you have time), and write a review. I’d be eternally grateful. You see, I’m supposed to be doing this too; getting reviews on these sites. I’m trying to do this social stuff. You know, I always said I wouldn’t do the “generation gap” thing when I got a bit older.
WELL…technically, I think I’m in the gap because I am just not as savy as the young folks.
BUT…I’m trying!!!!

I’m honoured and excited to announce that Fighting for Gold has been nominated for British Columbia’s Red Cedar Award in the non-fiction category. I hope students all over B.C. read and vote for Fighting for Gold because the athletes in this book deserve recognition. They are amazing and have fought so many odds to realize their dreams. For more info on the Red Cedar Award go to www.redcedaraward.ca.

Puckster Books are available!!

Friday, November 25th, 2011

So my latest books have now been launched. Yeah! this is the really fun part of writing, seeing your work in book form. Puckster’s First Sweater and Puckster’s First Game are available at Chapters/Indigo and also online at amazon.ca and amazon.com and indigo.ca. They are really cute books that are geared for ages 4-8 and Puckster has even shared a few hockey and life tips at the end. Kelly Findley illustrated the books and did an amazing job. I just love Charlie the Chipmunk.

Summer

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

Happy Summer!  Hope you are enjoying the sun and lazy days that go with summer.  I love summer because it is a time to get together with friends and family.  And drink a glass of wine or two!   Did I say just two?   Haha.  But I’m also working, which for me is also fun.   Let me fill you in on some rather exciting news.  This wonderfully energetic woman contacted me to help her write her book.  And when I mean energetic, I mean energetic.   Her name is Ellen Whitehurst.  Google her.  She’s amazing.  And her book is also amazing.  She combines fantastic recipes with tidbits of information on food and how it can help you manifest your dreams.  Love it!!  I love food and I love manifesting so…when she asked me to help her with her project I raised my hand and said, “Pick me!”

It’s a day for Daddy!

Sunday, June 19th, 2011

I hope all you dads out there have a fantastic day!  My own father passed away on December 31st, 2004 and I miss him.  I have a great photo of him in my office and…I know this will sound crazy, but (okay, I’ve been working with Tara too long), when I’m writing he often talks to me.  Yes, I hear his voice, telling me things.  He loved history and sometimes when I’m struggling with some part of my researchI will hear his voice telling me to remember something or check this or that out.  And he’s always right.  So, although he’s gone from the earth, he’s not gone from my mind.

Thanks, Daddy.  I love you.
