Oh man, I didn't keep up my end of the blog and should have gone on and on about the Olympics as they were truly amazing and I was at every hockey game. Oh well. I'm learning to be a better blogger!

I'm so glad to hear that writing is your passion!!! Mine too. Once in the blood it's hard to get rid of, in fact, I think you don't ever get rid of it. When I was trying to get published and kept getting rejected, I kept telling myself to quit. But...I kept coming back for more. I think that's a fair sign to say...I'm addicted to this crazy craft!
By the way, sorry to take so long to get back to you.

Hi Lorna,

Found my way here in a roundabout way. I write (yes, I write, writing is my passion) a weekly post on my blog that is "Sunday Morn Musings" which is a departure from the niche/topic of my otherwise semi-daily blog content. Just for the fun of it I thought I would Google the term Sunday Morn Musings (to see if there was any currency accruing to the term) and was pleasantly surprised that there was nothing original about it, that many seem to have a similar post at one point or another and of course, your post of some two years ago with that headline was one of them!!!!

So what is my passion? Writing.

Waaaayyy back, before jobs and families and responsibilities took over, I wrote. Life took over and I dropped it. Reading, I thought would have to suffice and whenever I thought of writing again, reading a fine piece of journalism or book quickly snuffed that idea - I mean, how could I possibly compete with the talented author who's piece I had just finished?

Several years ago I attended a class reunion. We are an eclectic bunch and are scattered throughout the globe so getting together is something super special. This was the first time many of us saw each other in some thirty years. One of my classmates offered up a comment on me. She said that whenever she thought of me she imagined that I was off on some island writing, and that often when she read articles in magazines or picked up books, she looked for my name as the author. "What happened?" she wanted to know.

I laughed it off but secretly, inside it was like a stab. What happened indeed? Of course I could not write like Maugham, Hemingway or Ondaatje. But I could write and so began the long and often lonely road to writing again. I write articles, am working on a book and own a stable of blogs on which of course I write.

Lorna, we share a passion. To you success!

It sounds like you're having a great time. Perhaps too great a time? Take a break from all the hob-nobbing
and give us a second installment already!

(PS: we agree with Wayne Gretzky: Barbara Ann Scott was stunning!)

Hey Lorna!
got your book 'Home Ice' for Christmas...as a fellow Canadian I was shocked
to see that you think that Steve Yzerman is from Cranbrook, ONTARIO!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
In case you haven't noticed Cranbrook is in BRITISH COLUMBIA!!! You should
know that considering that you have lived in this neck of the woods yourself!
regards...
