Long Time

April 9th, 2010

Hey, It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. I’m not the world’s best at this sport. Okay, I’ll try harder. LOL. Been in Mexico for over three weeks, at our house in Salchi Bay. So amazing. Took tons of work with me and only wrote one day. Yikes. What was wrong? Sun, friends, margaritas!! I’m back to snow in Calgary and a computer in front of me. HOME ICE was on the Globe and Mail bestselling list and I even made it to #2 one week. New experience for me, that’s for sure. I’m working on a new project for Fenn, a book about THE NEXT ONES. All the up and coming young hockey players and I loooove talking to their parents and hearing about the hours and hours of dedication these young boys have put into their hockey. Also working on some picture books. Puckster, the Hockey Canada mascot, is going to come to life in the fall in a few books. He’s a great character and he has all these friends who I love. Can’t wait for these books to come out as I think the kids in Canada will love them.
AND…while in Mexico, drinking margs and Coronos, I got many, many new ideas for books. So, hey, I was working! While on the beach one night I watched Little Lucky– the cutest little dog who was rescued by the nice lady Eneida from Venezula who now lives in Mexico by our place in Salchi– playing with a sand crab. No lie. He was PLAYING with the crab. At first I thought he was torturing the crab, but then Lucky scampered off to see something else for a few seconds, and the crab didn’t hide in the sand. He perked his bulging eyes up and waited for Lucky to come back and play with him. I had never seen anything like it and want to write a book about this.
Plus, I would like to write some middle grade or YA books about some wonderful Mexican kids who I have met and have come to love.
So…all is good in writing land, except the margs and Coronas.
Onwards.
